This is an annual ride for us. Often, if the weather is good, more than once a year.
Been coming out here since around 2005 or so. But didn't have a web site or a decent
camera back then. The Bluebird saloon [re]opened in ~ 2006. Before that, the town was
just a whistle stop. Had lunch in Goldendale back then.

Check the Bluebird Inn's
HOURS before heading out.
First Fall weekend. Nice day. A little overcast in the city but a gorgeous
bluebird day east of The Dalles. Sometimes it's dry enough and warm enough to do
the Bickleton Finale. Other years not so much...
Stopped to check out Roosevelt, Washington before we did the climb North to
Bickleton. Not much there. A population of about 100, mostly employed by landfill
operations. There used to be a ferry landing here until around 1942. There really
isn't much to see here anymore. Worth checking out "just because" but this certainly
won't become a regular stop.
Here's more pictures of the Roosevelt, Washington segment.
There's this place that has a $4 breakfast....
Look up "trailer trash" in the dictionary, and you'll find this lovely dwelling...
Looks like they used to have a gas staion here... probably in the 1930's when
the ferry was still running. Nearest fuel is in Goldendale now.. 30 miles away.
Then a stop at the Goldendale Observatory. Here's more pictures of the
Goldendale Observatory segment.
Then a stop at the historic town of Blockhouse, Washington. The old 1856
Military Road went through here and there was once a Military Troop garrisoned
here. Not much here anymore and not the friendliest place I've ever been. That's
Mount Adams off in the distance.
Here's more pictures of the
Blockhouse, Washington segment.
Here's some more pictures taken along the way on the
Bickleton, Washington finale ride.
