Cleveland was first settled in 1879 by Ripley Dodge, who named it for the city of
his native state of Ohio.
We were out
Bickleton, Washington way earlier this year.
Also
LAST YEAR (2010).
The Cleveland Cemetery, 1879. There are some really old grave markers here!
But, recently dead people are also being buried here. The most interesting
dead guy is John L. Beck, who was murdered at the age of 25 in 1897.
When out this way, there is the obligatory stop at the World War I Memorial at
Stonehenge.
They added a name for a local soldier killed in the War in Afghanistan since I was
here last.
When in Bickleton, be sure to stop in at the Blue Bird Saloon.
