This is a fantastic annual event that Julie and I very much look forward to.
A great, usually scenic hike and really nice people.

2014 Swale Canyon hikes are documented HERE and HERE.

Julie and I were out here in 2013. Those hikes are documented HERE, HERE and HERE.

The Spring 2013 KTC Swale Canyon hike is documented HERE.

The KTC 2011 Swale Canyon hike is documented HERE.

More information about the entire Klickitat Rail Trail can be found HERE.

GETTING THERE: Take SR 14 to Lyle, Washington. Turn North at the Lyle Cafe onto
Centerville Highway. Go 14.72 miles and turn left onto Harms road. The trailhead is
about a half mile down the road.

CAR SHUTTLE SERVICES: Note that we have not used thie service yet so we cannot
vouch for them in any way. If/when we do try them out, we will post an update
on future trip reports. The shuttle is provided by Carl Coolidge, owner of the
Canyon Market, Klickitat, Washington. 509-369-4400:

The weather dorks said rain all day and as usual, they were wrong again. It did
pour buckets in the City but it was a gorgeous bluebird day out in Lyle.

Only four people showed up for this hike. Their loss. Jim and Steve did a great
job once again. At the trailhead, Jim Denton talked about the topology and early
geologic history of the area. I've heard this talk several times and the information
is always new and fresh.... as I've said many times, Jim is probably the smartest
guy I've ever met. We always enjoy going on hikes with him.

There were a lot of turkey vultures out here today.

I almost stepped on this snake. Jim said it's probably a gopher snake.. harmless.
