We were out to Detroit, Oregon in 2010, 2010, 2014, 2020

We were out to Mill City just before the fire in 2020, Fall, 2020

I did the Stahman Point hike in 2010 and 2020

These images were made with my Nikon D810 camera and my
Zeiss Planar T* 50mm F/1.4 ZF.2 manual focus Lens.

It was a beautiful sunny Fall day.... they recently opened highway 22
after they put out all the wildfires set by these "protesters"... Antifa
pansies. Cowards that they are. Caused a lot of damage and made a lot
of innocent people homeless. Mill City wasn't as bad as I thought it
would be although east of the town all the homes are gone. Gates was
pretty much destroyed. Ditto for Detroit. Not much still standing
and crews are still putting out fires and working on various landslides.

Didn't know if the Stahlman Point trail would even be there. Ran into a
couple of Forest Service workers and they said it was ok although about a
mile in there was a lot of fire damage and I'd have to "hop" over a few
trees. That was an understatement..... there were some massive trees
blocking the trail and I had to bushwhack to get around a large clump
of downed timber. Got pretty sooty in the process. Nice view at the top.
As nice as I remembered.

This was a bittersweet day.... I was up here ten years ago with what's-her-name
.... I always thought that she and I would do this one again when I turned
85..... one last love walk just before we both faded into the sunset ....
..... we sure don't get the life we expected, wanted or even hoped for,
that's for sure. Still, it was a nice but steep 6 mile round trip hike
solo..... and a very rewarding view. I guess I must still be in half way
decent shape since I did this hike with little difficulty. Pretty unlikley
I will ever be back there again tho.... although I'm happy the trail and the
fire watcher pad survived the fires.

Detroit was wall-to-wall lookie-loos taking pictures of the devastation.
There was also all kinds of firefighters and various construction types
all over the place. You couldn't even get near Detroit Lake.

I just have to shake my head when I see these imbeciles all alone in
their shitbox cars wearing a mouth muzzle.... and sometimes a mask and
a face shield..... driving like the incompetent amateurs that they are
oblivious that their speeding and erratic lane changes puts their life
(which I could care less about) and the lives of others at great risk..
while being confident that they are immune from this covid scam that kills
almost no one who is otherwise in good health.

I'm surrounded by fucking idiots who aren't even smart enough to realize
that they are idiots. They are a real statement on the public education
system..... students who come out after 12 years of brainwashing and
indoctrination dumber than when they went in.
