I was out to Shaniko, Oregon in
2011,
2012,
2013,
2014,
2014 and
2014.
GETTING THERE: I-84 to The Dalles. SR 197 to Maupin (there's one gas station here).
Bakeoven Road to Shaniko. SR 218 South to Antelope. Back up 218 to Shaniko.
SR 97 to Biggs Junction (there's gas here).
It was a gorgeous Fall day. Chilly starting out but got toasty warm by the time
we got to Boyd, Oregon. Not many more warm, clear dry bluebird days left in 2014.
Headed out at the crack of dawn. It was a 12 hour ride and I still didn't have
enough time to make all of the planned photo op stops.
Here's a few pictures taken "On The Way" on today's ride.
A view of Maupin, Oregon as we head up on Bakeoven Road.
The next several pictures are of houses and buildings long since abandoned
along the 25 mile stretch of Bakeoven Road.
