Interesting little burb, Maryhill. I used to really enjoy coming out
here. Actually found it by accident during a visit to Stonehenge many
years ago. Decided to follow the signs to the Gunkle Fruit stand and
lo and behold, there it was. A couple of houses and a couple of old
derelict buildings. It's been interesting watching them be cleaned up
and restored to their former glory.

On my last several visits it takes about 5 minutes for the locals to
start coming out of the woodwork to see what I'm up to. Not a friendly
crew at all! Every now and then, albeit rarely, I will run into some
hostility when I am out taking pictures but the people out here display
hostility on steroids. I don't know what they think I'm up to but
I no longer feel very welcome or safe walking around here... which I
suppose is exactly the message the locals want to convey.

I have to wonder why that guy is putting so much time, effort and money
into restoring that old filling station if he doesn't want anyone coming
around to look at it.
