This ride was planned around using Leavenworth, Washington as the destination.
Julie loves these kinds of places and if she's happy, I'm happy. Personally, I
found Leavenworth to be a pretentious, high priced, obnoxious tourist trap. After
walking around for a half hour, I was ready to leave. If you enjoy being elbow to
elbow with Obama loving yuppie scum who have waaaaay too much money to spend, then
you'll love Leavenworth. Personally, Cashmere and Skykomish were the highlights
of this segment for me. The only thing that made Leavenworth worth it to me is that
it was a place that Julie has always wanted to visit.
Got some half way decent pictures here although taking a picture that has no people
in it was not the easiest thing to do.
The buildings here were built with a Bavarian theme. They are not old or historic
structures. It's as if Walt Disney decided to built a little hamlet where he could
get people to pay $250 a night to stay in a hotel room and buy overpriced hummels
and beer steins.
I'm not complaining (much....). Leavenworth is worthy of an hour of my time
to have a look-see. But a whole day or a whole week?!?!?! Not a chance.
This is about the only interesting building in town. And, as you can see, if
we didn't get here on motorcycles we'd probably still be driving around looking for
a place to park.
Next stop,
Skykomish, Washington.
