Pictures of past visits to Crater Lake in 2014, 2021.

Previously, I hadn't been here since around 1998 when I rode the Big
Dog to Crater Lake. This was during my film photography days and I do
have pictures of that trip lying around somewhere that I should probably
scan and post here.

I went with BratGirl (tm) on that memorable ride and what a fabulous week
with her it was. Final destination was a fantastic "cabin" at the base
of Mount Shasta. That old Big Dog was quite the machine when it was new.
And BratGirl (tm) was by far the best and most experienced Biker Chick
I have ever packed on the back.

I was also down Medford-Ashland way via Crater Lake National Park on my
old Honda around 1988-1989 or so. Prints from that trip, taken on film
are stashed away here somewhere...

These images were made with my Nikon D810 and Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 Planar T*
manual focus lens.

It was thick, choking smoke from area wildfires for 100 miles in any
direction from Crater Lake. I was really concerned that we wouldn't get
any decent images there but..... we were already in the area and
committed, so...... turned out, once we picked up some altitude, things
started clearing out. There was a nice breeze at the crater that had
cleared out the smoke so it was a gorgeous bluebird day up there. Thanks
Eloise! GET LOST saved the day again!

We had lunch at Macs Diner in Shady Grove, about 30 miles from Crater
Lake National Park. She declined to SpokesModel this classic 1955 Chevvy
(or what's left of it) due to no makeup and the stupid motel having no
hair dryer in the room. Bummer....

Found this place mostly by accident. REALLY good food here! Try the
Ricky Ricardo.... very tasty!
