This is a nice early Spring loop ride when the road to Lava Canyon is still closed
due to snow. Sometimes you can get as far as
Marble Mountain.
For planning purposes, the road from Marble Mountain to Lava Canyon is rarely open
before the second week in June.
Started out a little chilly but turned out to be a nice day. The Curley Creek
Bypass road was open but apparently not many knew this because there was almost
no one out this way today. There is still a lot of snow up here but the road was
bare and very little loose gravel.
As promised, I stopped at the Parkersville Historic Site and took a few pictures.
The obligatory stop at Hamilton Landing, Beacon Rock State Park.
Lots of snow at the higher elevations of the Wind River Highway. But the road
is open and relatively gravel-free.
Any excuse for a nice ride topped off with a yummy pizza at the Lone Fir in Cougar.
But.... the Lone Fir was closed!!!!! The owner just happened to be there so I asked
when they'd be opening. He said he didn't know.... he sold the place and they do
not have a "grand opening" date set yet.
I told him that in my opinion, they have the best pizza on the Planet. He said that
the new owners aren't planning on changing anything. We shall see.....
Headed down to Amboy and Battleground. Stopped at Loves Leathers Outpost on the way
home. A nice second day of Spring ride.
