GETTING THERE: Route 35 North from Hood River. 9 miles past the Mount Hood General
store and just past mile marker 74, the entrance to the Polallie trailhead will be on
your left. The trail starts on the other side of the highway.

LEFT: The trailhead has sufficient parking for 6-8 vehicles.
RIGHT: The trail starts across the street from the trailhead.
After a very short way you will come to a fork in the trail. Go left.
The trail on the right will be the one you return on if you take the loop.

Most of these pictures can be enlarged by clicking them. The trail to the Falls
is not difficult to follow and it is a fairly easy 5 mile loop hike. There are a
couple of forks where you can go wrong but for the most part, there are sufficient
signs to keep you on course. This hike is well documented in the "Curious Gorge"
book and as usual, Scott does an excellent job describing the best route to take.
I won't try to duplicate his efforts here.... we hike the Gorge all the time and
the Curious Gorge book is well worth the money.

It wasn't the most wonderful early Fall day.... heavy overcast that got thicker
as the day wore on. Dry but not terribly warm. Color is close to peak up here
in the higher elevations.

The whole creek is one long waterfall. It was magical.

There are several interesting wooden bridges over this creek.

Just before you get to the falls, you have to cross this boulder field.

If you don't mind getting wet from a little spray, you can get behind the
waterfall, which is very cool.
