We always liked this old house that was built in 1912. It's just across
from the old truck in a field that takes lovely pictures when the colorful
weeds are in bloom.

A few years ago, the old guy who has owned the place since 1997 was out in
the yard so we engaged him in conversation. He's a very friendly fellow and
a wealth if knowledge about how Shaniko was in the old days.

Today we got an invite to look at the inside of the house. He has a period
picture of the house with the original owners. A subsequent owner was a
Banker who was shot and killed in the middle of the street by a disgruntled
customer.

Today he was out back hitting golf balls.... no big deal since he pays
neighborhood kids a quarter to go shag them. But he lost his right arm
in 1952 (in the Korean War I'm guessing.... it would be rude of me to ask).
The loss of a limb doesn't seem to have slowed him down any.

Married his childhood sweetheart in 1952. She passed 4 years ago. We never
met her.

This building, a half mile out of town and in the boonbocks, situated next
to where the trans tracks were, was a very active brothel.
