A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation
of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to
display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason,
in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person
in a still position. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the painter
or photographer, in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer.

It's the Queen of the Woild's birthday so naturally, Eloise wanted to be part of
these photo shoots...

After a fair amount of screwing around, I was not able to get the various flashes
I had available to correctly light my model. So... this series was taken without
any flash fill in lighting (which is pretty obvious).

ESSAY ASSIGNMENT:

What is white balance? White balance (WB) is the process of removing unrealistic color
casts, so that objects which appear white in person are rendered white in your photo.
Proper camera white balance has to take into account the "color temperature" of a light
source, which refers to the relative warmth or coolness of white light.

Why is white balance important in digital photography? Our eyes are very good at judging
what is white under different light sources, but digital cameras often have great
difficulty with auto white balance (AWB) and can create unsightly blue, orange, or even
green color casts. Understanding digital white balance can help you avoid these color
casts, thereby improving your photos under a wider range of lighting conditions.
