Poured buckets all day long. Good chance to try out my new REI rain jacket which
worked out very well for me. Not a bad day except there were too many clouds to see
much of anything. Plus, we had to turn back about 3/4 of a mile from the peak because
the snow was just too deep. But it was a good "scouting mission" so we'll know just
how to go when we return this Summer.

DIRECTIONS TO THE "TRAILHEAD": There isn't a trailhead, but here's how to get there..
Washington S.R. 14 East, past The Bridge of the Gods. Just past MP 43 turn left onto
the road to Skamania Lodge. Just past the Lodge entrance, turn left onto SW Foster
Creek Rd. After about .7 miles, Foster turns into Ryan Allen Road. Go uphill onto
Ryan Allen Road and then turn left onto Red Bluff Rd. Follow Red Bluff Rd for .7 miles
and you will see the CR2020 road on your left. It is about 1/4 mile beyond CR2000.

We parked here but if you aren't overly fond of your car you can continue up CR2020
and save yourself some hiking miles. It's a gravel road that's easily passable via a
4X4 although there are some holes and blow downs along the way. In any case....

Follow CR2020 for 3.1 miles. As you are about to cross the power lines for the fifth
time, take the powerline up the hill. Do not take the trail off to the right.. it's a
dead end. Go straight up the swithcbacks that run back and forth between the power
lines. After 1.57 miles along these switchbacks at the obvious saddle, you will come
upon a very faint trail to the left that goes off into the woods. There is a decent
sized rock cairn marking the trail entrance. The trail soon improves as you progress
up the hill.

We didn't get quite that far due to the snow so we'll pick this up on another day.
Stay tuned... decided to "warm up" hiking Beacon Rock. Julie's never been. Details
on getting there are located HERE.

Julie at the top of Beacon Rock. Another item pours out of the bucket list...

The "Trailhead" for Greenleaf Peak
And several magical falls along the way.

After you cross the power lines for the fifth time, this is the uphill trail you
want to follow. It was a rainy, snowy, cold, bleak day today, as you can see.
Luckily, Spring is right around the corner.....

Almost back to the car....
