The first day of Spring. It was supposed to be low 50's and a 30% chance of rain.
What it turned out to be was VERY windy, VERY wet, pretty darned cold with snow and hail.
The original plan was to go to the Augspurger Mountain summit but at the 3.67 mile
turn-off, it was obvious that an additional 10 miles round trip hiking in deep snow,
cold and wind wasn't going to get it. So we headed off towards Dog Mountain instead.

Nice hike and a nice day overall. With today's weather conditions, Augspurger would have
been a mistake so we'll have to get out there another day.

This was one of the better "scenery" pictures we got. This one was taken at the very
end of the hike, at the viewpoint about 2 miles from the trailhead.

Mostly, it was a Winter Wonderland....

As it turned out, there was a LOT more snow past the Augspurger/Dog fork...

I'm not exactly Daniel Boone but there were a LOT of wild animal tracks up here
including these bear tracks. Not a huge bear but still....

Looks like there's still no marker, flag, bench or Starbucks at the summit

Julie's pleased that we made it to the summit.

Dog is not my favorite so I could care less. Augspurger was my plan.

Pretty slippery for the next couple of miles on the way back down.

The clouds moved out of the way just long enough for this shot of Wind Mountain.

A view of Starvation Falls on the Oregon side of the Columbia River.
