This is a fantastic annual event that Julie and I very much look forward to.
A great, usually scenic hike and really nice people.

Julie and I were out here earlier in 2013. That hike is documented HERE.

The Spring 2013 KTC Swale Canyon hike is documented HERE.

The KTC 2011 Swale Canyon hike is documented HERE.

More information about the entire Klickitat Rail Trail can be found HERE.

GETTING THERE: Take SR 14 to Lyle, Washington. Turn North at the Lyle Cafe onto
Centerville Highway. Go 14.72 miles and turn left onto Harms road. The trailhead is
about a half mile down the road.

CAR SHUTTLE SERVICES: Note that we have not used thie service yet so we cannot
vouch for them in any way. If/when we do try them out, we will post an update
on future trip reports. The shuttle is provided by Carl Coolidge, owner of the
Canyon Market, Klickitat, Washington. 509-369-4400:

It was a gorgeous Fall day East of the Cascades.

This is not a "difficult" hike although because of the hard rock trailbed the 12
miles can get tiring. There's not much in the way of water that you'd want to take
a chance on so packing a few liters on a hot day is advised.

It's pretty much impossible to get lost out here. The trail is fairly level but is
definitely not ADA accessible.

Once again we owe Jim Denton and the whole KTC crew a huge THANK YOU for a great event!
The Klicitat Trail Conservatory is a great group of people who are totally committed
to the success of rails to trails. They work very hard with the trail's neighbors
and various Government agencies so that trail use can be enjoyed in harmony with
the community. The fact that the KRT even exists is a major miracle. Many, many
hurdles had to be overcome to make this trail a reality. The KTC is most worthy of
your support, membership dollars and volunteer trail maintenance efforts.

This is the best KTC hike of the year, in my opinion. The turn-out this year was
disappointing... Yours Truly, Julie, two guests and two KTC Board Members.

Here's Jim Denton giving some last minute tips and instructions before we head out.

There are always creative and interesting recycling exhibts out here.

A great hike deserves a great dinner so it's off to the Gorge Panda. There are
more pictures of this hike HERE and HERE.
