I've been doing this ride several times a year since around 2005. I've got
pictures of some of the earlier rides salted away in the wayback machine somewhere.
One of these days I'll get around to posting them.

My 2010 ride is posted HERE.

The 2011 Spring opener ride to Glenwood is posted HERE.

Our 2012 ride is posted HERE. Our Spring 2013 ride is HERE.

Our Summer 2013 ride is HERE. The 2013 Finale is HERE.

Our 2014 rides are HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.

Our 2015 rides are HERE, HERE and HERE.

Washington State Highway 14 east to White Salmon. Left (North) on 141 to BZ Corner
Right onto the BZ-Glenwood Hwy to Glenwood. Turn right at Glenwood and follow the
highway along the Klickitat River (great views!) to the junction of hwy 142. Right
(west) on 142 to Lyle (more great views!). State Highway 14 west back to Portland.

If you'd like to tag along, E-mail me for assembly point times and locations.

The young couple who bought the place from Jerry couldn't make a go of it so they
sold it. The new owner couldn't make it either. The joint is now closed looking
for someone to take it on as a lease. It's a shame because both sets of new owners
worked very hard to make the place a success. We were there just before they closed
in late October, 2014. There was no indication of problems when we enjoyed what was
to be our last yummy club sandwich and fries there.

Hopefully the joint will re-open so that I can get a yummy club sandwich and fries
again when we come by in the future. But that's questionable to say the least. The
restaurant in BZ Corner used to be pretty good but after a succession of owners
the place seems to be permanently closed now. There's a half way decent restaurant
in Trout Lake but other than that you have to go to Goldendale or Bingen to find a
good meal (Sodbusters or Killer Burger).

November, 2014 UPDATE: The place has yet another new owner! They've renamed the
motel, market and fuel business "Glenwood Station". They apparently have no plans
to re-open the restaurant and are hoping to find someone who will lease the space.
We shall see I guess.

July, 2015 UPDATE: A couple of guys who own a logging company bought the
place for cash..... since the previous owners couldn't make a go of the place
I'm guessing they got it for a very good price. So... the restaurant is open
again but with a very limited menu. They still have a club sandwich but will
only make it on a french roll.... the cook claims they don't have any bread
in the place...... yeah, right. But I have to say that his french roll
club sandwich is quite tasty which made me happy. I hope these guys can
keep the joint open for a few more years.

DIRECTIONS

When the Glenwood Inn is closed, the Glenwood General Store is
the only place in town to go for food and club sandwiches.

Had their club sandwich today and in all honesty, it wasn't that good. Certainly
not nearly as good as the club sandwich a the Lyle Cafe. And the Glenwood
General store fries were really bad. Also, the store is a local hangout
so expect to spend a long time in line waiting to place your order and
pay for it. From the time we walked in until the time we had our food
was about 45 minutes.... not too good if you are on a schedule.

We were behind some moron who must have quit school after he flunked
kindergarten. He counted out about ten dollars worth of small change
(pennies, nickels and dimes....).... which took forever because he apparently
doesn't know how to count higher than three.... and the checker was equally
slow recounting the change and putting it, ever so slowly, into the cash
drawer. And do I even need to say what this retard was buying? Yep...
cigarettes.

The owner seems like a nice guy and we do like to support local businesses,
but in fairness to our readers, we cannot recommend the food at the Glenwood
General Store. I sure hope they re-open the restaurant across the street!

As an aside, the owner had a BBQ grill set out in front and was making
burgers for $6. They looked pretty good. Hand pressed from fresh
hamburg, not frozen hockey pucks. Probably should have ordered the burger
instead....

It's been oppressively hot for weeks. Very little rain and snow last
Winter. So the grass and shrubs are dead and the trees are way too dry.
Fires are popping up everywhere including on the BZ Highway. The road was
closed so I didn't think we'd be able to get to Glenwood. Luckily, they
re-opened it shortly after we got to the roadblock.
